A pedestrian died in Monroe County after getting struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, at 1:10 PM, 33-year-old Michael Cox of Albia was traveling southbound in a Chevy Traverse on South Clinton Street. The vehicle proceeded through the intersection of South Clinton and Washington East.
A pedestrian, identified as 56-year-old Timothy Olson of Polk City, was crossing South Clinton from the west which was to the right of the car.
The accident report states the driver did not see Olson who was struck by the vehicle. Olson was transported to the Monroe County Hospital but died from his injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
