Bonnie Louise Hazelwood, 88, formerly of 416 W. Finley, died at 7:14 p.m. August 19, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa.

She was born August 3, 1934 in Abilene, TX. She married William D. “Bill” Hazelwood September 1, 1956 and he preceded her in death January 11, 2007.

A resident of Ottumwa since 1956, Bonnie worked in the dietary department at Ottumwa Regional Health Center from 1992 to 1999. She was a member of The Church at Fourth and Washington.

Bonnie was an excellent homemaker, dedicating her life to her 9 children. Spending time taking her kids and grandkids to their sporting events and activities was part of her being a wonderful mother and grandmother.

Surviving are four sons, Will (Connie) Hazelwood, Richard (Lennice) Hazelwood, John (Trena) Hazelwood, all of Ottumwa, James “Jim” (Toni) Hazelwood of Riverside; three daughters, Karen Johnson of Tennessee, Marybeth Ott of Boone and Carol (Chris) Storto of Ottumwa; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; a great great-grandson; two brothers, Ray Taylor of Marshalltown and Robert Taylor of Ottumwa; four sisters, Barbara Peterson of Des Moines, Joy Fenton of Oskaloosa, Kathy Shouthammer of Ottumwa and Sue Sylvester of Blakesburg.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Horton; a daughter, Kathy Lukehart; a son, Kenneth “Mike” Hazelwood; 2 great-grandsons, Aaron Arguello and Shadam N. Hazelwood.

Visitation will be open after 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 23rd at Reece Funeral Home with her family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 24th at Reece Funeral Home with David McSpadden officiating. For those unable to attend, you may view the service on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Cremation will follow the services.

Inurnment will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Heartland Humane Society.
