Josie Marie Hipsher, 87, of Ottumwa, died at 8:51 a.m. July 17, 2022 at her home.

She was born May 3, 1935 in Oskaloosa to Nicholas John and Josephine May Monzlock Williams. Marie married Alvin Harold Hipsher on March 24, 1984 and he preceded her in death on June 6, 2022.

Growing up in Ottumwa, Marie worked in housekeeping at Good Samaritan for a short time and also in childcare. The majority of her life, Marie was a homemaker and spent her time taking care of her children and her husband.

Marie had been a member of O.B. Nelson Unit #3 American Legion Auxiliary since 1963. She enjoyed country music, Elvis and collecting family photos.

Surviving are her children, Rick (Kelly) Trier of Marion and Pam Williams of Ottumwa; 2 grandchildren, Nicholas (Kelsey) Trier and Tyler (Taylor) Trier; 4 great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Lennox, Leyton and Tyger; step-children, Brad (Cindy) Hipsher, Terina McLachlain, Bryan (Tina) Hipsher and Sherene (Brent) Eckley; 21 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Fanny McKittrick of Las Vegas, NV.

She was preceded in death by 9 brothers, Melvin “Pete”, Wayne, Jacob, Max, Dale, John, Nick, Billy and her infant twin brother Joe Williams.

Her body has been cremated.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 22nd, at Reece Funeral Home with Angie Phillips officiating. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Private inurnment will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
