Davis County enjoyed its biggest offensive explosion of the season Monday evening at Milledge Field in Chariton.

The Mustangs pounded out 13 hits in a 12-0 Game 1 victory in five innings and a season-high 17 hits in a 19-8 Game 2 win in six innings.

Davis County sophomore Nolan Cremer was a combined 6-7 in the two games. He had three triples, a double, two singles, five RBI, and five runs scored.

In Game 1, the Mustangs sent 12 men to the plate in a seven-run second inning and added five runs in the fifth to build a 12-0 lead. Dawson Townsend was the beneficiary of all the support as he pitched two outs into the fifth inning. He allowed no runs on four hits without a walk while striking out two.

In Game 2, Davis County scored in every inning and built a 13-1 lead in the fourth inning before Davis County pitching had trouble finding the strike zone. In the bottom of the fourth, Mustang pitchers walked seven batters, four with the bases loaded which allowed Chariton to close the lead to 13-6. However, a run in the fifth inning and five runs in the sixth inning allowed Davis County to put the game out of reach.

Every Mustang starter had at least one hit and scored a run in Game 2.

Davis County (19-8, 12-4 in South Central Conference) will be back in action Tuesday night at home versus Fort Madison.
