Shelly Rae Rinehart Belloma, of Pella Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022.

Shelly was born on July 11, 1965 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Carl Ray Rinehart and Shirley Berniece (Pitts) Rinehart.  She attended Mystic Elementary, as well as Lakeview Elementary in Centerville.  Shelly graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1983.

Shelly enjoyed her Summers in the sun with friends and family on the beaches of Lake Rathbun. All that knew her loved her solar powered smile and her mermaid-like love of Lake Rathbun, especially while waitressing at Mapo’s with Janet Benton and the late Marsha Bonus. Mapo still says to this day, that they were 3 best waitresses they ever had. The trio and their great personalities were a draw for fun, laughter, and creating wonderful memories at Mapo’s.

On June 3, 1992 she was united to in marriage to Jeffrey Belloma and to this union, they were joined by children Ashley, Zachary, and Payton. Their family settled in Pella, Iowa and have continued to reside there. Shelly was a domestic engineer homemaker with much pride until her youngest child went off to school. At this time, she was the founder of “Little Learners Daycare” in Pella, Iowa. This is where she continued her love and her nurturing of children in the Pella community. Shelly operated a successful proprietor daycare business for the past 15 years, partnering with her daughter, Ashley Simmons.  Shelly enjoyed building long lasting relationships with the families and children in the community that have attended Little Learners. She cherishes those great memories and relationships to this day.  She continued her daycare until her health no longer allowed her to do so.

In her free time, Shelly enjoyed swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and anything on the water.  On a recent trip to Sanibel Island, she discovered paddle boating. Shelly loved the outdoors, water glittering in the sunshine and nature. You could always find Shelly by a pool or a lake in the summer with her children and daycare kids. Shelly was a family woman, who loved her family immensely. Her love was hard and long. The apples of her eye were her 3 grandchildren; Tuesday, Carlynn and Milo. Any day or evening spent with her grandchildren was a blessed day for her.  Anyone who knew Shelly, knew she was a social butterfly with wings of love and laughter about life.   You just couldn’t dull that smile that lights up a room.

She is survived by her husband Jeff; her daughter, Ashley (Christopher Simmons), grandchildren, Tuesday, Carlynn and Milo Simmons of Pella, Iowa; her son, Zachary Belloma (Meghan) of Ames, Iowa, and her youngest, Payton Belloma of Chicago, Illinois; her mother, Shirley B. Schmell; brother, Scott Rinehart, sister, Tammi (Travis Haines), brother, Craig Schmell (Michelle), Cody Schmell (Cassey); as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Ray Rinehart; grandparents, Louise and James Rinehart; Grandmother, Elba Bonus; Aunt, Marsha Bonus; and stepfather, Ralph Schmell.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Bessie’s Barn, west of Centerville with Pastor Holly Oden officiating.  A visitation will take place from 1-3 PM on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Bessie’s Barn.  Following in Shelly’s wishes, cremation will take place after the service.  A memorial has been established to Ovarian Cancer Research and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, IA 52544.  Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com. or on our Facebook page.
