Shaaron Diann Golden, 81, was called home to be with God on May 25, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer. Shaaron was born August 15, 1940, to Keith and Dortha (Davis) Lagle. Shaaron grew up on a farm near Eldon, IA. She attended country school, where she was taught by her dad. She then graduated from Eldon High School in 1958.

Shaaron married the love of her life, James Golden, on November 14, 1958. Jim and Shaaron first lived in Selma before moving to Douds. They had two wonderful children, Susan and Robert. Together Jim and Shaaron owned and operated Douds Mobile, later Van Buren Oil. Shaaron was a fixture in the Douds community.

Shaaron spent her time volunteering at McCreery Cancer Center, traveling across the country, caring for her cats – Snuggles and Snoopy, and making memories with her friends. To all that knew Shaaron, they knew her as a caregiver. She was generous to all and had a heart of gold. Her kitchen was always open as was her heart for conversation.

Shaaron’s greatest joy in her life was her family. One of her proudest titles was Grandma Shaaron. She was an essential part of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s upbringing. She connected the family and knew each detail of their lives.

Shaaron leaves behind her beloved daughter, Susan (Monty) Heston of Birmingham and her cherished son Robert (Linda) Golden of Douds. Her treasured grandchildren, Cassie (Tim) Goedken of Cedar Rapids, Shelbee (Trevor) Richards of Fairfield, Clint (Jessica) Cunningham of Sully, Abby (Eli) Lynn of Fairfield, and Tyler (Jalayna) Golden of Mediapolis. Her dearly loved great-grandchildren Averie and Atticus Goedken, Ian, Jude, and Stella Richards, Clara, Ezra, and Isla Cunningham, Case and Cooper Lynn, and those that are yet to come. Lastly, her special Sullivan Family.

Shaaron is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
