Charles R. Jones, 70, of Eldridge and formerly of Oskaloosa went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 12, 2022, while being cared for at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa. He was born September 23, 1951, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Barbara June Denney Jones. As an infant he was baptized at the Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa. Charlie attended Brush Creek Country School through 2nd grade and finished grade school at Lincoln School in Oskaloosa. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1970 and went on to attend classes at AIB in Des Moines. While in high school he was active in 4-H and F.F.A. and enjoyed showing livestock at the county and state fairs. Charlie had a strong work ethic that he learned early in life by helping on the family farm and helping his dad lay flooring in Oskaloosa and surrounding areas. On April 22, 1978, he was united in marriage to Vicki Currier at the Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa. Following their marriage, they moved to the family farm west of Oskaloosa to help with the farming operation. In addition to farming Charlie worked at Pepsi in Oskaloosa. He later went on to work at Mahaska Industries for 10 years. Last he worked for Wake’s Feed (now DFS) for over 40 years, retiring from there December 19, 2019. Charles and Vicki participated in many churches throughout his lifetime. While raising their family they spent many years worshiping at the Good News Chapel in Oskaloosa. Charles was very active at the church serving as a Deacon, Cadet leader, and Sunday School and Cadet van driver. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and he and Vicki saw a large portion of the United States from their Harley. They also enjoyed traveling to Gospel Country Concerts, it was always a bonus if they could ride the Harley to the shows. Family was the center of Charlie’s life. He was very proud of his children and always looked forward to attending their sporting events and activities. Later in life, he and Vicki enjoyed taking many trips together making memories with friends and family. He also enjoyed having breakfast and catching up on the news with his friends at Riverside II Restaurant in Oskaloosa.

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 44 years Vicki Jones of Eldridge; two children, Chip Jones of Brooklyn and Candi (Jeremy) Gardner of Davenport; a granddaughter, Emersyn Gardner; two sisters, Mary Johnson of Oskaloosa and Connie Pickett of Des Moines; brothers and sisters in law, Larry (Vona) Currier of Des Moines, and Bonnie (Larry) Van Halen of Pella; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Phillip Jones; a nephew, Nick Jones; and his parents in law, Freda (Marion) Schwab.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Charlie McMillan officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Tuesday, May 17, 2022 after 12 noon and the family will be at the funeral chapel Tuesday evening from 5-7 to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Oskaloosa F.F.A.
