Steven Patrick Thompson, 52, of Ottumwa, died at 10:15 p.m. April 18, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born April 21, 1969 in Ottumwa to William “Bill” and Sandra L. Pearson Thompson.
A 1987 graduate of Ottumwa High School, he earned a certificate in welding at Indian Hills Community College.
Steve had worked at Chuck’s Auto doing body work, he owned and operated a semi-truck business, operated a small engine repair business and had worked at John Deere Ottumwa Works for 14 years.
Steve was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his children, Kaitlyn Thompson and Tyler Thompson, both of Ottumwa; his father, Bill Thompson of Ottumwa; sisters, Debbie (Dan) McClellan Sr. of Ottumwa, Pam (Jeff) Frase Sr. of Waterloo and Sue (Kent) Kelly of Ottumwa; nieces and nephews, Dani, Daniel, Jeffrey, Jessica, Jerrod and Amy; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandy Thompson.
Visitation will be open at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21st Steve’s birthday, at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 22nd, at Reece Funeral Home. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed live on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Cremation will follow the services.
