Phillip A. Taylor, 73, of Ottumwa, died at 2:45 a.m. March 26, 2022 in Iowa City.

He was born July 8, 1948 in Woonsocket, SD to Howard and Lorene Bezpaletz Taylor. He married Deborah J. Byers September 1, 1984.
A graduate of Woonsocket High School, he attended South Dakota State University. He owned and operated the local franchise of American Freight System in Ottumwa for several years and had worked for Midwest Fly Ash at the Chillicothe powerplant.

Surviving is his wife, Deborah; four children, Kristin (Jeremy) Kulla of Minneapolis, MN, Erica (Shane) Radtke of Minneapolis, MN, Emery (Melissa Daniels) Taylor of Ottumwa and Kimberly (Travis) Hancock of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, Kaydance, Delanie, Thomas, Zoey and Emerson; two sisters, Hope Birdsill of Leadville, CO and Pamela (Jim) Cave of Beaver City, NE; a brother-in-law, Tony Byers of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ramona and Virginia.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Skinner officiating. For those unable to attend, you may watch live on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Cremation will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
