Frances L. Spangle, 76, of Ottumwa died at 8:35 a.m. March 28, 2022 at Ridgewood Specialty Care in Ottumwa.
She was born October 11, 1945 in Ottumwa to Webb Oscar and Frances Pauline Edgington Slutts. She married Jerry Lee Spangle November 30, 1962 and he preceded her in death February 22, 2018.
Fran attended Ottumwa High School. She worked for RL Polk helping to create a city directly and for the US Census Bureau in Cedar Rapids from 1979 to 1986.
Fran was a member of a bowling league and enjoyed spending time playing pool with friends at the Tune Up Lounge, as well as fishing and camping. She was known for hunting mushrooms and getting chased by snakes.
Surviving are her children, Bambi Youngblood of Ottumwa and Jeff (Keitha) Spangle of Des Moines; 2 grandchildren, Chelsea Reeves and Rindy (Lauren) Stalley; 4 great-grandchildren, Xavier Reeves, Asyia Welch, Sophia Stalley and Olivia Jean Stalley; a brother, David Raines; aunt, Mary Edgington; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Becky Wilt; and a granddaughter, Tomi Stalley.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 31st at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. Cremation will follow the visitation.
