An Ottumwa man with seven prior theft convictions faces charges after a recent shoplifting attempt, according to police.
24-year-old Brain Anjain was charged with Trespassing and 3rd degree Theft (Enhanced 2+ priors).
On June 19, court records say Anjain attempted to steal an alcoholic beverage from the Casey’s on E Main Street. Authorities say an employee caught him leaving and got the beverage back. Police say Anjain had already fled before officers arrived at the scene.
According to court records, Anjain has seven prior convictions of theft dating between May 2021 and April 2024.
Anjain was taken to the Wapello County Jail. He is being held without bond and a preliminary hearing is set for June 24.
