Shirley Leone (Allen) Vance, age 86, of Moravia, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at her home.
Shirley was born on December 14, 1934 in Murray, Iowa, the daughter of Everett Gail and Nina Mae (Booth) Allen. She was united in marriage to Robert Vance on January 5, 1952 in Ottumwa, Iowa, and to this union, three children were born, Michael, Debra and Connie.
Shirley loved to take care of her family and children. She enjoyed outdoor activities including gardening and mowing. Shirley was also a long-time member of the Hedrick Ladies Auxiliary.
Left to cherish Shirley’s memory are her children, Mike (Susan) Vance of Des Moines, Debra (Russell) Shuey of Exline and Connie (Craig) Foster of Exline; five grandchildren, Stryker Vance, Tracey Ellis, Shane Ellis, Shawn (Ray) Foster-Tait, and Tonya (Cevin) Logsdon; eleven great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, LaDonna Vance; a close friend, Richard Irving, lifelong friends, Lavonne, Carol and Shirley; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Gail and Nina Allen; her husband, Robert Vance; siblings, Daryl Allen, Darlene Boatman, Edna Reed, Paul Keith Allen, Merrill Allen, Lorna Graham, and Don Allen; and brother-in-law, Monroe “Zeke” Breese.
Per Shirley’s wishes, cremation has been accorded. Celebration of Life services will be announced at a later date. Burial will take place at Brooks Cemetery near Hedrick, Iowa. An open memorial has been established, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, C/O Vance family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
