November 9, 2016 - November 10, 2016

Van Buren, IA   The Van Buren County Hospital and Keosauqua Chamber are bringing Frank and Kimberlee Spillers, of Global Horizons and authors of the book, The Be WUCA! Way, The ART of getting along, for seven different sessions with staff, parents, community, and the chamber November 9 and 10. Thursday’s Chamber and Parents as Teachers events are open to the community.

On Thursday afternoon, the Spillers’ session is with the Keosauqua Chamber: Know Your Town. Know Its Values. Sell it to the World. “We are extending this invitation to businesses as well as community and civic groups in Keosauqua,” says Mandi Manning-Maras, treasurer of the Keosauqua Chamber. We hope that it will serve as a springboard for conversations between groups about the growth of our community.”

Two events Thursday are open to the public. The Chamber presentation is from 12:30 – 2:30 in the newly-renovated Van Buren Community Hospital basement meeting room. It is free to Chamber members; non-members may attend for $10, and includes lunch. To register, please RSVP by Friday, November 4 by calling 319-293-7737 (area code required) or emailing [email protected].

The closing event Thursday evening is at 6 p.m. at the Community Service Center with the Van Buren Parents as Teachers group about self-esteem as individuals, as parents, and for their children. “We get together regularly to learn and share ideas that enable them to be good parents,” says Amanda Payne, PAT coordinator. “Our mission is to provide information, support, and encouragement parents need to ensure their children are healthy, safe and ready to succeed in school. We’re going to learn to parent the Be WUCA! Way to Welcome, Understand, Comfort and Appreciate yourself and others.”
