Small Town Christmas

The 7th annual Small Town Christmas will be Soup supper 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov.17 and buffet served 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, November 18 at Blakesburg Elementary School located at the south edge of town. As in previous years attendees may do a bit of early Christmas shopping either before or after enjoying a hearty meal. Saturday evening Soup Supper menu includes ham and beans, chili, cheesy broccoli and vegetable soups, hot dogs, nauchoes, extensive dessert bar and choice of beverage. Sunday all you care to eat buffet features tenderloin roast, beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, salad and dessert bars and beverage. Free will donation will be collected.
Before or after eating please plan to shop the Country Store and Cookie Shop. The Country Store will feature a fine selection of hand crafted items, toys, Christmas decorations and household items. And the busy home maker can choose home made Christmas goodies for family and friends at the Cookie Shop. Guests should plan a little extra time to wander down Christmas Lane to view themed Christmas scenes featuring decorated trees as well as the Polar Express— electric train setup.
All proceeds go to help support Loving Shepherd Food Pantry. Manager, Vera Miller, said Small Town Christmas is the only fund raiser the food pantry conducts each year. She stressed the event is a labor of love from many volunteers through out the community who not only do all the work of planning, decorating, cooking, serving and cleaning; but also donate all items for sale in the Country Store and Cookie Shop as well as all of the food served Saturday evening and Sunday.
