Iowa SIDS Foundation’s 19th Annual Walk for the Future

August 25, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm

Registrations are rolling in for the Iowa SIDS Foundation’s 19th Annual Walk for the Future.

The What Cheer walk starts at 8:30 AM at the Keokuk County Fairgrounds.

As the nonprofit’s largest fundraiser, the organization will host seven walks across the state on Saturday, August 25, 2018.

Proceeds from the “Walk for the Future” provide safe sleep education to Iowa parents, healthcare and childcare providers, as well as bereavement support to Iowans impacted by Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and sudden unexplained infant deaths (SUID).

“The loss of a child is a tough subject to talk about.  But, the unexplainable loss of a child due to SIDS is especially hard. The Walk for the Future is an opportunity for families who have experienced this type of loss to come together in memories of their babies,” said Robin Wright whose son, Josh, died of SIDS in 1979.

The family-friendly walk includes a memorial balloon release.  After the event, participants are invited to enjoy refreshments as well as a raffle, kids’ activities, and family activities.

Registration will be available on-site the morning of the Walk.  Local sponsors include McCulley Culvert, Inc. and What Cheer Community Club.
