Coy McClellan

Coy C. McClellan, 92, of East Moline,  IL, formerly of Ottumwa, died June 3, 2018 in Rock Island, IL.

He was born December 22, 1925 in Osceola, IA to Otha and Veta Cain McClellan.  He married Marylan Boekhoff  on February 26, 1948.  She preceded him in death March 25, 2005.

He proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  He retired from John Morrell & Co. after working for 39 years.

He was a member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and was a Union Steward while working at John Morrell & Co.  He loved to go camping, traveling, dancing, playing bingo, was outgoing and loved people.  He especially loved spending time with his family and always put them first.

Surviving are two daughters, Candice (Dennis) Eakins of Coal Valley, IL and Linda Preston of Des Moines; 3 grandchildren, Crystal (Caroline) Eakins, Justin (Diane) Preston and Lisa King; 6 great grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Bill (Jo) McClellan of Callao, MO; a brother-in-law, Ralph Johnson of Ottumwa; and 5 nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joy McClellan Johnson.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor David Albert officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military honors performed by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association.
