A southeast Iowa man is facing a felony charge after allegedly driving his vehicle through two soybean fields in Van Buren County in the early morning hours of September 11th.

Jonathan Cranston, 63, of rural Mount Pleasant was arrested October 7th at 4:30 p.m. on an active arrest warrant stemming from the incident, which occurred in the area of Willow Avenue east of Stockport. He has been charged with Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony, and two counts of Trespass, both scheduled violations.

Court documents indicate Cranston intentionally damaged two soybean fields — one sustaining $392.37 in crop damage and the other $1,957.50 — for a combined total of $2,349.87 in damages. Cranston was released from custody after posting a $400 cash only bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 22nd.
