Fairfield Man Arrested After Allegedly Choking Woman and Leaving with Her Vehicle and Phone

A Fairfield man turned himself in on an arrest warrant and is facing an assault charge after allegedly choking a woman during an argument and leaving her home with her vehicle and cell phone.

Colin Faulkner, 35, was arrested at the Van Buren County Law Center on October 5th after turning himself in on a warrant. He has been charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury or Mental Illness, a Serious Misdemeanor. The alleged incident occurred in the early morning hours of October 4th at a residence in the 14000 block of Highway 98 in Douds.

According to court documents, Faulkner choked the victim during an argument before leaving the residence with her vehicle and cell phone. When the victim notified law enforcement, marks were still visible on her throat. Faulkner and the victim are in a relationship but do not reside together.

Faulkner was released from custody after posting a $500 cash bond. A no-contact order has been requested in the case. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 15th.
