Paul Robert Wolf of Pella, Iowa, passed away on September 29, 2026, at Independence Village of Pella.

Paul was born January 26, 1945, in Sheldon, Iowa, to Robert and Pearl Wolf. He grew up in Sioux County and attended country school in Grant Township through the fifth grade, graduating from Augustana University. Paul proudly served in the Iowa Army National Guard Aug 18, 1967 to August 17, 1973.

On June 23, 1968, Paul married the love of his life, Patricia Schumacher. Together, they shared 58 years of marriage and built a life centered on family, faith, hard work, and service.

Faith was important to Paul from an early age. As a young man, he was active in Luther League at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and his faith remained an important part of his life throughout the years. Peace Lutheran Church in Pella became a place of worship, fellowship, and service, and Paul was deeply proud to be part of its church community.

Above all, Paul was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved his wife’s cooking, cherished his boys, and adored his grandchildren. He took tremendous pride in each of them and treasured the life they built together.

Paul loved the outdoors, horses, dogs, and telling stories. He enjoyed sitting in his recliner watching his favorite old shows, but he was just as happy when someone stopped by. He had a welcoming nature, a good sense of humor, a kind heart, and a genuine interest in people. Paul talked to everyone, and a conversation with him could happen just about anywhere. Before long, you weren’t a stranger anymore.

Paul built his career in insurance and took pride in doing things well. He was hardworking, loving, joyful, and full of personality. He could be ornery in the best sense of the word, was often mirthful, and was always unmistakably himself. Paul didn’t need the spotlight. He was a leader who quietly took care of what needed to be done, helped others, and gave his time to his family, church, and organizations that mattered to him, including the Marion County Pheasants Forever, the Boy Scouts of America, and the Pella Lions Club. His influence was often found in the things he did that others might never have seen. To those who knew and loved him, Paul was simply irreplaceable.

Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia of Pella; his son Jason and wife, Sara Wolf, of Appleton, Wisconsin, and their children: Aaron Doubet of Marion, Iowa, and his son, Brecken; Patrick Doubet and his wife, Liz; Matthew Doubet and his wife, Amber, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and their children, Savannah, Briggs, and Sawyer; Olivia (Wolf) Miller and her husband, Hunter Miller, of Greenville, Wisconsin; and Evan Wolf of Madison, Wisconsin. He is also survived by his son Nathan of Ankeny, Iowa. Paul was preceded in death by his son Robert, formerly married to Julie Wolf, and is survived by Robert’s children: Hunter Wolf and his daughter Stori; Ava Wolf and Ryker Wolf; Paul’s brother Norman and Deb (Kurth) of LeMars, Iowa; his sister Joan and husband, Don McCulloch, of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and extended family and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Pearl Wolf; his youngest son, Robert; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the caring associates of Independence Village in Ankeny and Pella and to the compassionate team at Compassus Hospice for the dignity, kindness, and care they provided to Paul and his family.

A special thank you goes to Marc Held, Todd Pringle, Dennis Hallberg, Carol and Bob Loynachan, and Verla and Greg Bigbee: “Paul’s Angels of Pella” for the friendship, kindness, and support they provided throughout his journey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in Pella, Iowa, October 17, 2026, at 3:00pm. The family will be available to receive those wishing to pay their respects prior to the celebration beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial will take place at a later date in Sheldon, Iowa, in a private family service.

Paul’s greatest legacy is the example he gave his family: work hard, serve others, take care of what needs to be done, love your people, and don’t worry about getting credit for it.

Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church of Pella, Iowa or the Marion County Pheasants Forever.
