Philip Eugene Brown, 74, of Ottumwa, died at 1:45 p.m. September 11, 2026.

He was born January 2, 1952 in Lexington, MO to George Alvin and Shirley Ann Bullock Brown. Philip married Brenda K. Arnold June 17, 1972 and she preceded him in death July 15, 2019.

A 1970 graduate of Orrick High School, Philip earned his bachelor’s degree in education and farmland management from the University of Missouri. He had taught school and worked in the farming industry before working at John Deere Ottumwa Works, where he retired.

Philip was a member of Pennsylvania Ave. Free Methodist Church. He enjoyed his Tuesday Lunch group at Country Kitchen, teaching hunter safety courses at the Izaak Walton League Ottumwa Chapter and attending bible study. Philip was an avid deer hunter and loved his faith, family, and Diet Pepsi.

Surviving are his children, Lisa (Michael) Langgin of Ottumwa, Matthew (Amy) Brown of Alburnett, and Hannah (Jeffrey) Abbott of Tonganoxie, KS; 6 grandchildren, Caleb (Mycah), Joshua, Christian, Brendan, Melanie and Alexander; brothers, Wayne Brown of Lawson, MO, Steve (Rhonda) Brown of Jefferson City, MO, Michael Brown, and Paul (Laura) Brown both of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jonathan Arnold Brown.

Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Tuesday September 15th at Reece Funeral Home with family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday September 16th at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. George King officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
