Betty Jean Lee, 90, of Ottumwa, died at 5:23 a.m. June 25, 2026 at Serenity Hospice House in Oskaloosa.
She was born October 26, 1935 in Ottumwa to Earl and Lela Scott Gard. She married Merwyn Sedore March 12, 1955 and he preceded her in death August 12, 1973.
Betty had been a hostess at Heady’s Southgate Restaurant, worked at Econofoods and owned and operated Betty’s Quick Stop Laundromat.
Betty enjoyed flowers and especially loved her family.
Surviving are her children, Wanda Besco and Chris (Michelle) Sedore both of Ottumwa; step-children, Steve (Sherry) Lee of Ottumwa and Marsha Lee of Illinois; 7 grandchildren, Josh (Alicia) O’Dell, Monica Sedore (Patrick Lauer), Bronson (Collette) Sedore, Sara (Brandon) Gravett, Steven (Elizabeth) Lee, Andrea (Stephen) Cole and Derek (Bailey) Prado; 14 great-grandchildren, Makenna, Mattea, Barrett, Fisher, Margo, Emma, Sophie, Lincoln, Harrison, Kenneth, Margaret, Violet, Audrey and Delilah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Nancy Sedore; a grandson, Mason; sister, Bea Nicoletto; brothers, Robert “Sonny” Gard and Richard Gard.
Visitation will be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 28th at Reece Funeral Home.
Graveside services and burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 29th at Eldon Cemetery with Pastor Bryan Wyldes officiating.
