Small businesses across Iowa depend on credit cards and electronic payment systems to serve customers, access capital, and manage day‑to‑day operations. But proposed federal changes—particularly the Credit Card Competition Act (Durbin‑Marshall)—could weaken fraud protections, reduce access to credit, and diminish the rewards programs many businesses and customers rely on.

During this session, we’ll highlight the work of the Small Business Payments Alliance (SBPA), a national coalition that gives small business owners a strong, unified voice in advocating policies that protect a secure and competitive payments system. The roundtable will provide an opportunity to better understand what’s at stake, ask questions, and connect with fellow business owners who share similar concerns. Your perspective is critical to shaping policies that support Iowa’s small businesses and long-term economic growth.
