One brother, Ronald Coleman (Erica), a sister, Linda Douthart (Rick Cole), 5 grandchildren who he cherished; Wyatt, Grace, Miles, Asher and Cassidy and many other extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Douthart and Connie Allen and two brothers, William M. Douthart Jr. and Michael Coleman. Private burial of cremains will be at Forbes Cemetery in Keosauqua.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

A poem to Donald written by his daughter, Mariah.

Clear skies On a Warm spring Smokey asphalt Shimmers ahead A perfect day Blooms on the horizon So he puts on his boots And turns the key In the ignition A reddened apparatus Is awaken Singing a tune of Mechanical perfection; Man and machine become one With White wings, a steady confidence, And No fear in his veins; He kicks off. A highway only he can know A highway where only Angels go. Red beast rumbling, Shiny chrome sparkling Cracked leather, worn boots Down an infinite highway he rides.
