Michael D. Hannah, 56, of Eldon, IA passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2026, at his home in Eldon. In accordance with Michael’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A joint celebration of life honoring both Michael and his late mother, Mary Hannah, will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Eldon Library Hall in Eldon, IA. Michael Dwayne Hannah was born on August 22, 1969, in Ottumwa, IA to Phillip and Mary Fridley Hannah. He spent his whole life in the Eldon area and graduated with the Cardinal High School Class of 1988. During his time in high school he was a gifted athlete, excelling in sports but especially wrestling. He spent much of adult life on the family farm alongside his parents and brother. He found comfort in familiar surroundings and the slower pace of life. Michael not only helped on the farm but also had a career as a steel worker.
When not working he would spend time outdoors, fishing and mushroom hunting. He could often be found in the kitchen where he was famous for his omelets. Michael loved rock music and just having a good time with friends. He cherished his time with his family and had a deep love for his mother, whom he cared for and remained by her side throughout his life. Michael will be remembered for his love of the simple lifestyle, passion for music and the outdoors, and the moments he shared with those closest to him.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Gavin Hannah.
Left to share his story are his three children, Corey (Brandi) Hannah, Christopher (Elizabeth) Hannah, and Taylor (Gage) Hannah; a brother, Jason Hannah; five grandchildren, Caydence, Madelyn “Missy”, Kaitlyn, Zachary, and Nicholas, as well as many extended family and friends.
