We are saddened to announce the passing of Linda Kelley, who departed this world on March 7, 2026. Born on June 16, 1953, in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Linda grew up to be a strong, independent woman who embraced life with a unique fervor and an unyielding spirit. Linda was often affectionately known as “Fred” to her friends and family, a testament to her quirky sense of humor and distinctive personality. Linda found joy in the simplicity of life. She was a diligent and dedicated worker, who spent her career at Cargill in Ottumwa, Iowa, mastering the art of precision and attention to detail. Retirement did not slow her down; instead, she channeled her energy into her passions – gardening and cooking. Linda’s garden was a riot of colors and scents, mirroring the vibrancy of her soul, and her kitchen was a haven of warmth and love, where she created meals that nourished both body and soul. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn,” and through her love for gardening and cooking, Linda created a thousand forests of joy, love, and memories for all those fortunate enough to know her.
Linda leaves behind her devoted husband, Robert Eklofe, her loving sons, Curt (Stephanie), Kyle (Jamie); grandsons, Dakota, Tyreece (Saundra), Grayson, and great grandson, Daxton, and her cherished sister, Brenda Kendrick. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Rath and Evelyn Kendrick. Evelyn later married James Kendrick. He was Linda’s stepfather. He preceded her in death also. Linda’s legacy will not be forgotten; she will be remembered for her strength, resilience, and the love she showed to all those around her.
To quote Emily Dickinson, “Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality.” Linda’s love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
