Coach’s Perspective
Fairfield head coach Melinda Chatfield reflected on the impact of her senior bowlers:
“All three of the seniors have bowled all four years of high school. I’ve known Dayson and Jacob through the youth league as well. It’s been fun getting to know all of them and watching them grow not just as bowlers, but as people and leaders on the team. Their presence will be missed next year.”
On her team’s performance, Chatfield noted the contrast between the boys’ and girls’ results:
“The girls struggled today—we had trouble making our spares, and you have to make your spares to win games. The boys came out on top today, and I’m very proud of how they’ve grown as a team. You can tell they take every shot as seriously as the last.”
Chatfield praised the visiting teams and the spirit of competition:
“I love having Centerville and Washington here. Their coaches and players are always so friendly and fun.”
Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday, January 20th at Keokuk to face Washington again, as well as the host Chiefs at 6 p.m.
