Van Buren County’s girls wrestling team put on a commanding performance Thursday, January 15th, at the Centerville Redette Classic, capturing the team championship with 183.5 points and crowning four individual champions.

The Warriors finished well ahead of runner-up Colfax-Mingo and third-place Central Decatur in the 15-team field, demonstrating their depth with medalists across the weight classes.
Individual Results
Van Buren County crowned four individual champions and earned several medals amongst the team.
Armoney Adams (100), seeded first, lived up to expectations with a dominant championship run. Adams pinned her first opponent in just 24 seconds in the opening round, then won by fall at 5:05 in the third period of her second match after gaining a 10-3 advantage. She capped her perfect day with a 24-6 technical fall at 4:49 of the third period to claim first place.
Brystol Wiley (105), seeded second, delivered the upset of the tournament by dethroning top-seeded Quynn Foster of East Union. Wiley won her opener with a first-period pin at 1:22, then dominated her second match with a fall at 2:45 of the second period after building a 10-3 advantage. In the championship bout, Wiley stunned Foster with a second-period pin at 3:17 without allowing a single point against her, finishing her day with a flawless 10-0 score in the final.
Rylee Caviness (125), seeded first, made quick work of her bracket with three impressive victories. She opened with a devastating 19-4 technical fall in just 1:22 of the first period, recording five takedowns and one nearfall. Caviness followed with a pin at the end of the first period (2:00), then claimed the championship with a second-period fall at 2:27.
Willow Worley (145), seeded second, battled her way to a runner-up finish. Worley won her opener with a second-period pin at 2:52, then captured her semifinal with a third-period fall at 5:12 despite trailing 4-0 when she secured the pin. She fell in the championship match with a first-period pin at 1:29 to finish second.
Teagan Sickels (170), seeded first, earned second place in a heartbreaking finish. Sickels won her opening match with a second-period pin at 2:44 despite the match being tied 0-0, then captured her semifinal with a fall at the end of the first period (2:00) while trailing 3-2. In the championship match, Sickels defaulted in the second period at 3:38 while down 5-3 to settle for runner-up honors.
Rylee Philips (120), seeded seventh, overcame long odds to capture third place in a stunning performance. After losing her opening match by fall at 2:00 of the first period as the buzzer sounded, Philips received a bye in the second round. She bounced back with an 18-0 technical fall over teammate Arianna Harvey at 3:22 of the second period, then shocked third-seeded Allison Corona of Clarke with a lightning-quick 37-second pin in the first period to claim bronze.
Jacqueline Singer (105), seeded fourth, claimed third place after a rollercoaster tournament. Singer received a first-round bye, then lost by fall at 2:44 of the second period in her first match. She bounced back with a quick 50-second pin in the first period of her third match, then secured bronze with a second-period fall at 2:18 after trailing 6-4.
Mallory Brauns (110), seeded third, also earned third place. Brauns opened with a first-period pin at 1:42, then suffered a setback with a 47-second fall in the first period of her second match. She recovered with consecutive first-period pins at 1:13 and 1:35, securing bronze in the final after building an 11-0 lead.
Lexie Wiley (140), seeded third, took third place with a strong showing. Wiley won her opener with a second-period pin at 2:36 after overcoming a 9-6 deficit, then lost by fall at 4:26 of the third period in her semifinal. She rebounded with a devastating 34-second pin in the first period, then claimed bronze with a third-period fall at 4:53.
Hadley Noe (135), seeded second, finished fifth after a competitive tournament. Noe received a first-round bye, then lost a close semifinal by fall at 5:30 of the third period while trailing 16-10. After receiving another bye, she won her final two matches by fall—at 3:56 of the second period and at 3:24 of the second period after building a 10-2 lead—to secure fifth place.
Arianna Harvey (120), seeded fifth, also placed fifth. Harvey won her opener with a clutch first-period pin at 1:59 with just one second remaining, scoring an escape and a takedown. She lost by technical fall 16-0 at 2:15 of the second period in her next match, then fell to teammate Rylee Philips 18-0 by technical fall at 3:22 of the second period. Harvey bounced back to claim fifth with a second-period pin at 2:25 after trailing 3-1.
Rory Philips (115), seeded second, took fifth place. After receiving a first-round bye, Philips lost by technical fall 19-2 at 3:56 of the second period, then fell by pin at 2:18 of the second period in her third match. She received a bye in the fifth-place match to finish fifth.
Randi Grimm (190), seeded fourth, finished third in a three-wrestler bracket. Grimm lost by pin in her opening match, then fell again by fall at 53 seconds of the first period before receiving a bye to claim third place.
Looking Ahead
The Warriors will return to action on January 26th when they compete in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference Tournament at Wapello, looking to build on their impressive performance at the Centerville Redette Classic.
