Police responded to an apartment disturbance involving reported property damage and an assault, during which an uncooperative individual allegedly bit the victim, assaulted multiple officers during hospital transport, made threats toward law enforcement
On January 7, Centerville Police responded to a report involving Ashley Roberts, 31, of Centerville, who was allegedly inside a victim’s apartment causing extensive disruption and damage.
When officers arrived on scene, they observed multiple items scattered in the parking lot below the apartment, which authorities say Roberts had thrown out of a window. According to court documents, the victim reported that the only item damaged was a 55-inch television valued at approximately $400. The victim also told officers that Roberts bit him twice—once on the back of his arm and once on his hand.
After Roberts was detained, officers noted she was irate and uncooperative. An ambulance was called to evaluate her, but Roberts reportedly refused assistance. Due to concerns over her behavior and statements, law enforcement transported Roberts to the hospital after she allegedly made suicidal comments.
Court records state that upon arrival at the hospital, Roberts continued to be uncooperative and refused to follow instructions. While being escorted into the facility, she allegedly kicked a police officer in the chest. Documents further indicate that while officers attempted to calm her in the emergency room, Roberts assaulted two officers. She also allegedly threatened to kill both officers and their families once she was released from jail.
Roberts was later transferred to the Appanoose County Jail, where she was subsequently released. A no-contact order was issued on January 8. Court records show that the preliminary hearing in the case has been waived.
Roberts now faces multiple charges, including three counts of assault on a person in certain occupations (aggravated misdemeanors), three counts of first-degree harassment (aggravated misdemeanors), fourth-degree criminal mischief (a serious misdemeanor), and one count of simple assault.
