Geraldine “Gerry” Bankson, 86, of Bloomfield died at 8:53 p.m. December 14, 2025 at Bloomfield Care Center.
She was born April 24, 1939 in Ottumwa to Gerald Thomas and Vera Caldwell Martin. Gerry married Donald Bankson November 26, 1965 and he preceded her in death June 27, 2025.
Gerry graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1957 and then attended Iowa Success School. She worked at Southern Prairie AEA in the curriculum lab.
She enjoyed shopping, going out to eat and spending time with her grandchildren. Gerry also enjoyed spending winters in Mission, TX. She especially loved her dog, Tucker.
Surviving are her children, Nick (Kelli) Bankson of Bloomfield and Lorna Davis of Hedrick; 5 grandchildren, Cory, Abilene, Chelsea, Jarred and Hayden; and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandsons, Trevor Beggs and Greyson Bankson; 2 brothers, Gary Martin and Joseph Martin; and 2 sisters, Marcia Weeks and Beverly Orman.
Her body has been cremated. Inurnment in Shaul Cemetery will be at a later date.
