Fairfield High School senior Archer Kreuter made his commitment to play collegiate baseball official on Wednesday, November 12, signing his letter of intent to join the Cornell College Rams in Mount Vernon.
Kreuter, an outfielder for the Trojans, initially announced his commitment to Cornell back in September and formalized the decision with his signature during the early signing period.
Kreuter posted solid numbers during his junior campaign for Fairfield, batting .284 with 27 hits and 28 runs scored. He drove in 21 runs and displayed strong defensive skills with a .966 fielding percentage in the outfield.
Cornell College Baseball Head Coach Robbie Dombrowski expressed enthusiasm about adding Kreuter to the Rams’ program, highlighting both his physical tools and character.
“Archer can really swing it – for his size he is a physical kid offensively and has college-ready bat speed which is something we really look for,” Dombrowski said. “As we got to know the type of kid he is through the recruiting process, the intangibles he will bring to our program make his commitment a big-time get for us!”
In his commitment announcement, Kreuter expressed appreciation for those who supported his baseball journey.
“I am very excited to announce my commitment to Cornell College! I want to thank God, my coaches, and the coaching staff at Cornell who made this decision easy for me,” Kreuter wrote.
He gave special recognition to his family for their unwavering support through the challenges of competitive baseball.
“I also want to give a huge thanks to my parents who have given me help and supported me through the thick and thin of my baseball journey. I would also like to thank my brother for giving me guidance so that I could succeed,” he said.
Kreuter also acknowledged his training facility and teammates who helped shape his development both as a player and person, concluding with, “Go Rams!”
Fairfield Baseball Head Coach Josh Allison praised Kreuter’s work ethic and character.
“Archer is one of the hardest working baseball guys I’ve coached. I’m excited to see him perform at the collegiate level. Couldn’t be more proud of him,” Allison said.
Cornell College, located in Mount Vernon, Iowa, competes in NCAA Division III athletics as a member of the American Rivers Conference. The Rams baseball program has a rich tradition of competitive play in the conference.
