Matthew W. Johnson has withdrawn from the Fairfield City Council Ward 2 race, leaving incumbent Paul Gandy unopposed in what was the only contested race in the upcoming city council election.
The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce announced that Johnson has decided this is not the right time for him to run for office. While his name will still appear on the ballot due to timing requirements, he is no longer pursuing the position.
With Johnson’s exit from the race, Gandy is set to continue representing Ward 2 on the Fairfield City Council.
