Fairfield High School’s Homecoming week festivities hit a high note Wednesday night, September 10th, with the annual rally at Trojan Stadium. The evening was packed with tradition, excitement, and a few unforgettable moments.
The night kicked off with the always-popular Powder Puff football game, where the senior girls claimed back-to-back championships by defeating the juniors in a spirited showdown. The seniors also won the title as juniors last year, cementing their place as a powerhouse in Powder Puff history.
The highlight of the rally came with the crowning of the 2025 Fairfield High School Homecoming King and Queen. Ian Jones and Caroline Van Pelt earned the honors, capping off a week that already made history when the court was announced on September 4th.
This year’s Homecoming Court was especially notable, featuring two pairs of twins for the first time: Isabel and Spencer McCready, and Faith and Ian Jones. They were joined by fellow court members Mallory Wigle, Bailey Belzer, Iris Lane, and Caroline Van Pelt on the girls’ side, and Tristen Garretson, Joshua Carlson, Dain Burkhart, and Drew Myers on the boys’ side.
Homecoming celebrations will continue through Friday and Saturday. Friday’s celebration begins at noon with the traditional Homecoming Parade, which will wind through downtown Fairfield before concluding with a pep rally in Central Park. The day continues with football action as the freshman/sophomore team takes the field at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity squad at 7:30 p.m. as they take on Mediapolis. The game will be livestreamed on the Ottumwa Radio YouTube channel. Saturday wraps up the week with the traditional dance.
