Cambridge Investment Research, Inc. has announced the recipients of its 12th annual Jim Guy Memorial Scholarship, a program honoring the legacy of former executive Jim Guy by awarding two $2,500 educational scholarships each year.
This year’s recipients are Mykaela Ruth and Chase Waterhouse.
Ruth, daughter of Sid Ruth of FIFS Capital Advisor Group, will attend Liberty University, where she plans to major in finance with minors in accounting and marketing. In high school, she held multiple leadership roles and was active in community service. She captained the Girls Varsity Soccer Team, served as a peer tutor, participated in church youth missions, and was involved in several school councils.
Waterhouse, grandson of Cambridge associate Gina Hanshaw, is pursuing a finance degree at the University of Northern Iowa and plans to minor in coaching. A former student-athlete, he served as Student Body President, earned honors in football, basketball, and track, and participated in the National Honor Society, FFA, and music.
The Cambridge Foundation thanked the Greater Jefferson County Foundation for its ongoing support and assistance with the scholarship selection process.
Jim Guy joined Cambridge’s executive team in 1999, where he played a key role in developing the firm’s fee-based programs and provided leadership in recruiting, marketing, and practice management. The scholarship program is designed to honor his passion for learning and his dedication to supporting others in their professional growth.
