In the early afternoon of July 3, 2025, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a series of escalating events that required a coordinated multi-agency response.
At approximately 11:03 AM, emergency responders were dispatched to a report of a motor home fully engulfed in flames on Highway 27 near the Missouri state line. Due to the severity of the fire, northbound lanes of the highway were temporarily shut down to allow for firefighting efforts and public safety.
Shortly after, at 11:27 AM, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Clark County, Missouri authorities regarding an active vehicle pursuit entering Iowa, heading directly toward the scene of the motor home fire.
At approximately 11:33 AM, a 911 call was received reporting a male subject running toward the fire scene with a firearm. Moments later, gunshots were reported in the area. By 11:37 AM, a separate report indicated that a male subject was attempting to gain entry into a nearby vehicle.
Law enforcement officials initiated a coordinated search of the surrounding area. After a thorough and extensive search, the suspect was successfully located and taken into custody near the 1700 block of 320th Street.

Further information regarding charges, including subject identification, will be released as the investigation progresses. A charge is merely an accusation; a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
