The family of Milly Zellmer, a young girl from Pella who passed away in a sledding accident in 2023, is continuing to honor her memory in a special way.

This year, they’re hosting Milly Moo’s Fundraiser to benefit the Pella Public Library—an organization that reflects Milly’s love of reading. The event is set for Saturday, June 28th from 5 to 9 p.m. at Sun Valley Barn, and it promises to be a fun-filled evening for the whole family.

Guests can enjoy food, live music, kids’ activities, and a silent auction, all while supporting a meaningful cause. Milly was known for her creativity and love of stories, often spending hours with books even as a toddler. Supporting the library feels like a natural way for the Zellmer family to celebrate her life and the things she loved most.

Since Milly’s passing, her family has organized yearly fundraisers and community projects to keep her memory alive. Past events have supported the Marion County Humane Society and Little Dutch Academy, and every winter, they encourage others to join in “Milly Moments”—simple acts of kindness shared in her honor.

The Zellmers hope this year’s event will bring the community together once again to celebrate Milly’s spirit and make a lasting impact through the gift of reading.
