An Ottumwa woman was arrested after allegedly assaulting multiple people at a local restaurant Tuesday night.

23-year-old Adalein Dykstra-Morrison was charged with disorderly conduct (simple misdemeanor), interference with official acts (simple misdemeanor), and assault causing bodily injury (serious misdemeanor).

Court records say officers from the Ottumwa Police Department were dispatched to Culver’s on Venture Avenue at approximately 7:10 PM for an assault in progress. Police say Dykstra-Morrison assaulted at least one person in the parking lot of the business. Officers described Dykstra-Morrison’s demeanor as “agitated,” and she was making guttural noises.

According to court documents, Dykstra-Morrison went inside the restaurant, lunged over a counter, grabbed an employee, and punched her in the back of her head. Police say the victim had raised bumps on the back of her head from the alleged assault.

Court records allege that Dykstra-Morrison began running around the establishment while screaming at customers. She also threw herself on top of an occupied table and overturned it.

Authorities put Dykstra-Morrison in handcuffs and attempted to conduct an investigation. Dykstra-Morrison reportedly became very upset and was lunging and screaming at customers, forcing an officer to hold her wrists and handcuffs.

Dykstra-Morrison was informed that she was under arrest. Police say she tried to pull away from the arresting officer as she was being escorted to a patrol vehicle.

Dykstra-Morrison is currently in the Wapello County Jail, where she is being held without bond pending a hearing with a magistrate judge.
