OTTUMWA – The Iowa Department of Corrections announced Friday that inmate 64-year-old Gregory Allen Showalter Sr. has died.
According to the release, Showalter was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 28, 2024, at the University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center.
Showalter was serving a life sentence after being convicted in October of 2023 for killing his wife 60-year-old Helen Showalter on July 31, 2021.
