Wapello County veterans and community members are encouraged to attend an important meeting of the Wapello County Board of Supervisors on April 7 at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Wapello County Courthouse, where the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2027 will be discussed.
A key item on the agenda is the future of the Wapello County Veterans Service Office (VSO), which is led by Veteran Service Officer Tim Evans. Under the current budget proposal, funding for the VSO would be reduced, potentially limiting the office’s ability to provide vital assistance to local veterans.
The VSO and members of the Wapello County Veterans Commission will be present to speak during the meeting and advocate for increased support in the final budget. Their goal is to ensure that veterans in the county continue to receive the services and assistance they rely on.
Community members, especially local veterans, are respectfully asked to attend the meeting to show their support for the VSO and the important work it provides. A strong presence from the public can help highlight the value of maintaining and strengthening these services.
While the Board of Supervisors is not opposed to supporting veterans, the current proposal represents a significant reduction in resources for the office that directly serves them.
Veterans, their families, and supporters are encouraged to attend, listen, and make their voices heard.
