Van Buren County Community School District Superintendent Jeremy Hissem issued a statement to district stakeholders informing them of a student comment that involved the word “gun” that was reported and addressed by school administration.
In his statement, Hissem said the situation was taken seriously and handled immediately upon being reported. He confirmed that as of the time of the statement, the matter had been resolved and there is no ongoing threat to students or staff.
“The safety of our students and staff is always a top priority,” Hissem said.
