Shirley Ann Gingerich-Slonaker, 80, of Ottumwa died at 11:47 p.m. February 28, 2026 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.
She was born June 13, 1945 in Burlington to John and Anna Darrah Gingerich.
Shirley graduated from Mediapolis High School. She had worked at Everco and for over 20 years at Hy-Vee in Ottumwa.
Shirley had been a member at First United Methodist Church in Ottumwa. She had recently attended First Presbyterian Church and Agency Community Church. She had served on the Ottumwa Planning and Zoning Commission. Shirley was involved with the Everco retiree’s gatherings, Wapello County Elections Board and the Lord’s Cupboard.
Surviving are her children, Christopher Walker (Kathy Chilton) of Virginia, Michelle Kirkpatrick and Matt (Kim) Kirkpatrick both of Ottumwa; 5 grandchildren, Cydney Chilton, Christopher Jay, Matthew Kirkpatrick, Devon Kirkpatrick and Macie Frazier; 3 great grandchildren; and a close companion, Jerry Bonser of Agency.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be open at 12 p.m. Wednesday March 4th at Reece Funeral Home with family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday March 5th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Hornback officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.
