Shelia S. Benedict, 80, of Ottumwa, died at 9:08 a.m. March 6, 2026 at Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa.
She was born July 19, 1945 in Ottumwa to Ed and Margie Aileen Kenyon Stinnett. She married Ronald Webster and later divorced. She married James A. “Skeet” Benedict December 12, 1992 and he preceded her in death March 25, 2015.
A 1964 graduate of Fremont High School, Sheila was a baker at Ottumwa High School and for over 25 years at South Hy-Vee. Shelia had a love for Christmas and baked thousands of Christmas cookies that she enjoyed delivering to others.
Surviving are her children, Kevin (Laura) Webster, Lori (Ted) Palmer, Ryan Webster and Jason Webster; 7 grandchildren, Clayton Webster, Brandon (Maddy) Webster, Dylan Webster, Kristen Webster, Blaine (Natasha) Webster, Cody Palmer and Bailey Palmer; 7 great grandchildren; Emma, Cayden, Tripp, Charlee, Lainey, Carson and Hudson; a step-son, Jamie (Brandi) Benedict; 3 step-grandchildren, Skyeler, Braylen and Liam; and a special friend, Pyper Schlotter.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Margie and Max Harter; and a great grandson, Race Webster.
Visitation will be open after 1 p.m. Monday, March 9th at Reece Funeral Home with her family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.
Graveside services and burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Skinner officiating.
