Rebecca “Renee” Cossolotto, 52, was born on January 4, 1974 and passed away on March 9, 2026, at her home in Centerville, Iowa.

Renee spent much of her life working in the service industry as a restaurant server, bartender, and manager—jobs that suited her quick wit, thick skin, and ability to chat with just about anyone.

She also dedicated 14 years of her life to her mother and father’s pride and joy, Nickelback Redemption Center. She was the mother of two daughters: Maranda (aka-Mandy poo-poo head) Cossolotto and Bryanna (aka-Skeeter) Schenk and helped in the upbringing of Brent and Samantha Cossolotto. She was especially proud of her role as Grandma Nae to Raegan and Charlytte, who spent many afternoons on her front porch or cooking alongside her in the kitchen, which was, perhaps, what Renee did best. She was, by all accounts, one heck of a cook, and the meals she made were the kind that tasted like home. Renee is survived by her father, Robert Chapman; her sister, Ericka Ashby and her husband Travis; and many nieces and nephews including Eriney, Hayden, Nolan, Kenzi, Tamara, Makayla, and Katrina, all of whom she loved dearly. She also leaves behind extended family members who meant a great deal to her, especially her uncle Lyle Chapman and cousin/caretaker Kathy Davis. Her neighbor Shirley was always there for her, too, whenever she needed her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rebecca Chapman; her brother, and best friend, Jake Chapman; her uncles Randy Kirkland and Brad Kirkland; and her grandmothers that meant the world to her, Norma Cicco and Aline Chapman.

Renee enjoyed the simplest things life had to offer: Sunday dinners and backyard barbecues at her parent’s house, frozen cherry limeades from Sonic, a good tenderloin, tending to her vegetable garden, drinking sweet tea (always with Splenda, never sugar), blasting phenomenal music loud enough to drown out the world, and going for long car rides around the Reservoir to watch the sunset with her dad. She rarely missed a New England Patriots game, or a chance to yell at the television when the good-looking quarterback wasn’t playing up to par. And she had a well-documented appreciation for raunchy Facebook memes. Renee lived life on her own terms. She may have had a few “friends in low places,” but she was “pretty good at drinkin’ beer.” She knew she wasn’t perfect, and she never tried too hard to pretend otherwise. More than anything, Renee wants everyone to remember, “I’m not crazy, I’m just a little unwell.” Per wishes cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
