A Mount Pleasant man faces multiple felony charges after allegedly forcing his way into a woman’s apartment and stealing her truck.

Donald Biggs, 52, of Mount Pleasant, has been charged with burglary in the second degree (Class C felony), theft in the second degree (Class D felony), violation of no contact/protective order – contempt (simple misdemeanor), and violation of probation.

On Saturday, February 28th, at 9:45 a.m., the Mount Pleasant Police Department was dispatched to the 1200 block of North Palm Avenue for a reported disturbance.

According to court documents, officers learned that a physical disturbance had taken place involving Biggs and the victim. During the disturbance, Biggs allegedly took the keys to a truck registered to the victim, then drove away in the vehicle.

When questioned by police, Biggs claimed the truck belonged to him. However, the vehicle registration was in the victim’s name.

The victim reported she was letting her dogs outside when Biggs approached her. Biggs allegedly forced his way into the victim’s apartment and pushed her down while making entry. He then took the keys to the victim’s truck and left the scene.

The incident was reported by both the victim and a neighbor who heard the disturbance and went to check on the victim’s welfare. Biggs was later located operating the truck.

An active no-contact order was in place between Biggs and the victim, with the victim listed as the protected party. The order had been issued in Henry County just two days prior to the incident, on Thursday, February 26th.

According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Biggs’ bail is set at $17,300, cash or surety—$15,300 for the burglary charge and $2,000 for violation of probation.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 11th.
