Mount Pleasant Man Charged in Fatal Marshalltown Shooting

A southeast Iowa man was arrested in connection to a shooting in Marshalltown that left one dead and three injured.

29-year-old Allen Hart was charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon (Class C felony), reckless use of a firearm – bodily injury (Class D felony), and reckless use of a firearm – property damage (aggravated misdemeanor).

The Marshalltown Police Department says officers were dispatched around 4:15 AM on Sunday to a residence on the 100 block of North 11th Avenue. According to court records, Hart fired a gun multiple times while in the residence towards several people.

According to law enforcement, four individuals suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to the local hospital. One victim died and the other three were treated and released. The identities of the victims were not disclosed.

Hart was arrested after initially fleeing the scene, according to police.

Hart is currently being held in the Marshall County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

Police say the case remains under investigation.
