Law enforcement in Marion County Sheriff’s Office has recovered stolen property and made an arrest in connection to a theft investigation.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office investigated a theft reported on March 3rd involving a red 2013 Chevrolet Silverado and a black 2022 Big Tex trailer taken from the 700 block of Upton Street in Melcher-Dallas.
According to a criminal complaint, 21-year-old August Crawley, of Des Moines, allegedly fled from law enforcement on foot that same night after abandoning a separate stolen truck in the 600 block of Highway G76, just north of the reported theft location.
Authorities say the stolen Silverado and trailer were recovered later on March 3rd in an alley behind a residence on the south side of Melcher-Dallas.
An arrest warrant was served on March 19th. Crawley is currently being held in the Marion County Jail without bond until an initial court appearance. He is charged with First-Degree Theft, a Class C felony.
