Mahaska County Conservation Board is pleased to announce the launch of a new Fishing Equipment Checkout Program, designed to make fishing more accessible to residents and visitors in Mahaska County.
This program provides free access to fishing poles and tackle for individuals who may not have their own equipment but would like to enjoy fishing opportunities throughout the county. Equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis, as quantities are limited.
To participate, borrowers must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Present a valid ID
- Complete a reservation form at checkout
- Return equipment by the end of the day or at the designated return time
The program was made possible through generous community support. The Golden Goose Club of Oskaloosa awarded Mahaska County Conservation $4,300 to purchase new fishing reels. The Conservation Board also extends its appreciation to volunteer Doug Tomlinson for his contributions in helping bring this program to life.
Individuals interested in checking out fishing equipment can visit the Environmental Learning Center, located at:
2342 Hwy. 92, Oskaloosa, IA 52577
Mahaska County Conservation encourages everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to explore the outdoors and enjoy local fishing resources.
