Kevin Dale Hewitt, 62, of Ottumwa died at 7:33 a.m. March 8, 2026 at his home.
He was born October 24, 1963 in Newton to Keith and Catherine Rhoades Hewitt. Kevin married Roxie Padget, they were together 25 years and later divorced but remained best friends.
He graduated Motorcycle Mechanic Institute of Florida with specialty in Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Kevin worked as a cable technician in Florida, Lake Wapello Park Maintenance, Ethan Allen Furniture in Des Moines, Pooles Truck Wash Service and North Hy-Vee in Ottumwa.
He grew up attending Dunville Baptist Church. Kevin enjoyed fishing, working on motorcycles, riding Harley’s, being outdoors in the woods. He loved the ocean, mountains and his dog, Molly. Kevin had an amazing gift for growing plants of all kinds.
Surviving are his children, Kevin (April) Hewitt Jr., Keithy Hewitt, Kayla Hewitt, Korey Hewitt; 8 grandchildren, Hailey (Devin), Jaycee, Katelyn, Imagine (Keith), Gavyn, Autum, Tyreece and Jayla Rose; 6 great grandchildren; his father, Keith Hewitt; siblings, Carla (Ron) Thompson and Kenny Hewitt; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; a brother Gary Hewitt; a sister, Kathy Veatch; and grandparents, Ed Rhoades and Irma Clark.
His body has been cremated. A time to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
