Gary Morrison, 80, of Ottumwa, Iowa passed away on March 20, 2026 at Good Samaritan Society Ottumwa. He was born on February 28, 1946 in Centerville, Iowa to Raymond and Lottie Lewis Morrison. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1964 and then attended Indian Hills for two years. On August 19, 1966 he married Carolyn Anderson at the old Methodist Church in Bloomfield, Iowa.
Gary worked for Hy-Vee Grocery Stores in the meat department for over 40 years. He started in Centerville and later transferred to the Ottumwa location. At the time of his retirement in 2007 he was the meat department manager. Gary enjoyed bowling, working in his yard, gardening, taking care of the neighborhood cats, and spending time with his wife. He had a giving spirit and was a 30-gallon blood donor. Gary also made the best fudge; both chocolate and peanut butter were his specialty. He will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Morrison; sister-in-law, Sandra Harvey of Bloomfield; and special friends, Tom and Sue Shepard of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Morrison; and a nephew, Bryan Morrison.
Gary’s wish was to be cremated and scattering of the cremated remains will take place at a later date. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is assisting the family.
