Edwin Brand, Owner of 98.7 KMGO Radio in Centerville, has filed paperwork officially announcing his campaign to seek the Republican Party nomination for Iowa Senate District 13.

Mr. Brand, a southern Iowa native and long-time Centerville resident, said that he intends to run on a platform of true conservative principles; many of which were instilled during his youth. “Growing up, my dad managed a Place’s Store and my mom was a schoolteacher. One of my grandpas was a farmer and the other owned a tire shop. So, I come from real salt of the Earth folks. I would listen to Rush Limbaugh at a young age in my dad’s old Ford pickup truck when I rode with him to work. The values and principles Rush talked about influenced me for years to come. I even used Rush’s book “The Way Things Ought To Be” for a book report in middle school when I was 12 years old.” Mr. Brand stated he has always been a proponent of individual freedom, limited government, personal and fiscal responsibility, and the rule of law; as well as individual God-given liberties and freedoms that provide for human dignity. “These are the guiding principles I’ll work to promote and fight to defend as your Senator for Iowa District 13.” As for the MAGA movement of recent times, he’s proud to have been an ardent supporter of President Donald Trump since the very beginning. “I attended a speech he gave at Simpson college in Indianola and shook his hand just months before he announced his first Presidential run. You could tell something big was going to come from him and he was going to make it happen.  I’m honored to have caucused for him and enjoy seeing him work to this day fighting to Make America Great Again.”

Mr. Brand’s successful career in the radio industry began at 13 years old when he knocked on the door and asked for a job at 98.7 KMGO in Centerville one Sunday morning. “I was fascinated by the thought that if I spoke into a microphone any number of people could be listening.” After working at KMGO throughout high school, Mr. Brand went on to report news for 1040 WHO in Des Moines while attending college and eventually returned to Centerville to take up ownership of the radio station he had started at. He has been fortunate in realizing business success, while also leveraging the unique promotional power of the airwaves to help benefit southern Iowa area development and local charities. His education includes an associate degree from Indian Hills, bachelor’s degrees in political science and psychology, and a master’s degree in government administration and public accounting. He actively volunteers, fundraises, and serves on numerous local area organizations, including Appanoose Conservation Foundation, Centerville Concert Association, Davis County Fair Board, St. Patrick’s Church in Georgetown, Wapello County Trails Council and the Wapello County Fair Board.

Edwin and Tabitha recently welcomed a new baby boy to their family 10 months ago. Ethen keeps dad busy, while also fueling his motivation and drive to fight for the values and ideals of hardworking southern Iowa Republicans. A vote for Brand is a vote to help to ensure the promise of a brighter, better future for all citizens residing in Appanoose, Davis, Monroe and Wapello counties. Mr. Brand notes that “I can’t do it alone. My business is successful, so unlike my opponents, I’m not asking folks for monetary donations during this primary. Instead, I’m asking for true conservatives and republicans to rally around me and this campaign. I’d be honored if you would come out and help support me in the primary election on June 2nd with your vote. I’m the right Brand for the job and I will work for you. Together friends, we can Make Southern Iowa Great Again.”

Mr. Brand has offered to donate free radio airtime for moderated debates on the 98.7 KMGO airwaves and awaits his opponents’ response.
