Dale Lloyd Blumhagen, 90, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on March 7, 2026 at the Bloomfield Care Center. He was born on January 7, 1936 in Castalia, Iowa to Lloyd and Agnes Russett Blumhagen. He graduated from Ossian Public High School in Ossian, Iowa. After graduation he served in the Army for two years. On August 5, 1958 he married Donna Bushman in Festina, Iowa. Dale drove a truck and owned a dairy farm in northeast Iowa and later south of Pulaski, Iowa with Donna for many years. They raised six children and were married for 52 years.
Dale loved country music, dancing, baseball, and playing cards while enjoying a whiskey sour. He was the official driver of the Blue Magic Band which consisted of four of his children. He enjoyed watching his children play sports, playing catch in the yard, and he even played in a game of donkey baseball – he was a good athlete. Dale served on the Bloomfield City Council for several years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by six children, Bruce (Yulan) Blumhagen, Beth (Randy) Withrow, Brian (Teresa) Blumhagen, Brenda (Duke) Ball, Becky (David) Henderson, Brent (Angie) Blumhagen; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Saucer; and brother, Gerald (Marie) Blumhagen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Mariah Wright; sister, Darlene Gilster; and two brothers-in-law, Ed Saucer, Don Gilster.
Dale’s wish was to be cremated and no services are planned. Burial will be held at the Drakesville Cemetery at a later date. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
